Dhaka-Jashore air route to resume on Thursday
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh today decided to resume flight operations on the Dhaka-Jashore route from Thursday.
"We have decided to resume the flights from Thursday as the district civil surgeon's office has agreed to assign physicians and health workers at the airport there," CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mafidur Rahman told The Daily Star.
Earlier on June 1, the government resumed regular flight operations on three domestic destinations -- Chattogram, Sylhet and Saidpur -- after more than two months' suspension due to Covid-19 pandemic.
CAAB resumed air connectivity ensuring health guidelines.
Of the seven domestic routes in the country, three -- Rajshahi, Cox's Bazar and Barishal -- are yet to get CAAB's permission to resume flight operations as airports there are not prepared to follow the prescribed health guidelines.
US-Bangla Airlines and Novoair have already taken preparations to operate four daily flights on Dhaka-Jashore-Dhaka route from Thursday, sources at the two airlines said.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines, however, extended its flight suspension on domestic routes till June 11 for what they say is due to a lack of passengers.
Since resumption of domestic flight operations on June 1, Biman operated only one flight on Dhaka-Saidpur route.
