Couple found dead in Faridpur
Police recovered the bodies of a married couple from their residence in Faridpur's Sadar upazila tonight, and suspect that the husband murdered his wife before taking his own life.
The victims were identified as Rajib Biswas, 34, son of late Nirajan Biswas and his wife Smriti Banik, 22, of Ujani village in Gopalganj's Mukshudpur upazila, our Faridpur correspondent reports, quoting police.
They use to live in a rented house in Puba Khabashpur.
Mizanur Rahman, a resident of the area, said a quarrel took place between Rajib and Smriti at their house this morning, after which the doors and windows of their house remained locked the entire day.
A police team broke the door open and recovered the bodies, said Belal Hossain, sub-inspector of Sadar police station.
The official said that they believed that Rajib strangled Smriti before hanging himself with a scarf.
Locals had heard them quarrelling in the morning and, getting no answer when they called them in the evening, pried open a window and saw Rajib hanging from a ceiling fan and the woman on the bed and called the police, a resident of the area told our correspondent.
The bodies will be sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy tomorrow, added the SI.
