Couple, 2 children murdered in Satkhira

Four persons -- a couple and their two children -- were killed at their house in Kolaroa upazila of Satkhira last night.

The deceased are Shahinur Rahman (40) of Khalisha village in Helatola union parishad, his wife Sabina Khatun (35), their son Siyam Hossain (10) and daughter Taslima (8).

Haran Pal, officer-in-charge of Kolaroa Police Station, said Helatola UP Chairman Moazzem Hossain informed police around 6:30am that four members of a family were killed by robbers at Khalisha village.

A team of police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.

Police, however, found no evidence of robbery in their primary investigation as nothing went missing from the house, he added.

The initial investigation showed that it was a planned murder, the OC added.

Shahinur's younger brother Raihanul Islam said he was sleeping in the next room when he heard groaning coming out of his brother's room.

He open the door of the room, which was locked from the outside, and found the four in a pool of blood.

One of the children was still alive when he opened the door but the child died a moment later,he said.

Raihanul said they had a dispute with some neighbours over land, but he was not sure who committed the murder.
