Coastguards seize Indian sarees

A team of coastguards seized illegal sarees worth over Tk 3 crore from a trawler on the Sandhya River in Ujirpur upazila of the district yesterday afternoon. Lt M Arif Hossain of the coastguard's southern zone said, acting on a tip-off about smuggling of Indian sarees by a trawler, a patrol team of coastguards took position under Shikarpur bridge on the Sandhya River yesterday morning. The law enforcers seized a trawler carrying the smuggled sarees. "We were not able to arrest any smuggler from the trawler," said Lt Arif Hosain.
