Chinese man held with 24 gold bars at Chattogram airport

A Chinese citizen was held with 24 gold bars weighing around 2.8 kilogrammes, from Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram this morning.
The detainee, Fan Ronggui, was detained around 8:00am after he landed on a Biman Bangladesh flight, our Chattogram correspondent reports quoting Deputy Commissioner of the local customs house Nuruddin Milon.
The gold bars are worth Tk 1 crore and were recovered from inside a charge light, the customs official said.
The flight—BG148-- landed at Chattogram airport from Dubai around 7:10am, he added.
