Bogura ‘criminal’ killed in ‘gunfight’ with rivals: police
An alleged criminal was killed in what law enforcers claim to be a gunfight with members of a rival group in Bogura town early today.
The deceased was identified as Al- Amin Sheikh alias Rabbi (37), resident of Sultanganj Para area of the town, reports our local correspondent quoting police.
On information that two criminal groups were engaged in a "gunfight", a team of Bogura police led by Sonaton Chakroborty, additional superintendent of police (sadar circle), conducted a drive in Nishindhara Ckokorpara Zahid Metal area around 2:00 am.
As soon as police reached the spot, they found a bullet-hit man there, said Sonaton.
Police rescued the man and rushed him to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead, the ASP said.
Locals later identified the deceased as Rabbi, who was accused in seven cases including murder, possession of arms and drugs and attempted murder with Bogura Sadar Police Station.
Police also recovered one firearm, two rounds of bullets and three blank cartridges from the spot, the official claimed.
Rabbi was in jail and had just gotten bail before the coronavirus outbreak, said Sonaton.
