Bid to snatch motorbike in Laxmipur, 4 held

Police arrested four people when they tried to snatch a motorcycle from a young man in Poura Matsya Hatchery area of Raipur upazila on Wednesday night.

The arrestees are Russel and Nazmul Alam Jibon, ex-president and general secretary, respectively, of Raipur municipality ward  No 7 unit of Jatiyatabadi Chattra Dal, and Delwar Hossain Delu and Iqbal Bahar, activists of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal.

Lokman Hossain, officer-in charge of Raipur Police Station, said Saiful Islam, hailing from Noakhali, contacted Jamil Mahmud Rana, a resident of Raipur municipality area, over mobile phone for selling a motorcycle.

On the day, Saiful went to Poura Matsya Hatchery area with his motorcycle around 7:00pm and was waiting for Rana. Later, Rana, along with Russel, Nazmul Alam, Delu, Iqbal Bahar came to the spot, swooped on Saiful and tried to snatch the bike.

The attackers fled the scene as locals came forward, hearing the victim's shouts for help.

Informed, police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Jibon, Russel, Delu and Iqbal around 8:00pm.

Saiful filed a case with Raipur Police Station.
