BGB introduces 4 new high-speed interceptor vessels
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has introduced four high-speed interceptor vessels equipped with advanced technology and weapons.
The vessels have been added to the BGB with sincere desire and direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said a press release issued by the BGB today.
These vessels -- each 40ft long, with 750-horsepower and three-engine -- will increase the capacity of BGB to stop human trafficking, trespassing and smuggling of drugs and other goods in maritime border of Bangladesh with Myanmar and India.
Each vessel -- with top speed of 55 nautical miles per hour or 101km per hour -- is capable of carrying 33 personnel and navigating in any catastrophic weather, the press release said.
The vehicles, equipped with automatic machine gun, radar, fourth generation GPS, modern sonar system and other modern equipment, can confirm the position of any enemy vessel from their own position with a distance of 50km.
These vessels also have the capacity to transport two critical patients, added the press release.
