'Action if any institution provides false info on MPO inclusion'
Education Minister Dipu Moni today said that legal steps would be taken against the educational institutions those are providing “false information” over inclusion in the monthly pay order (MPO) scheme.
“If we find any educational institution is providing false information and breaching the conditions of the MPO enlistment, we will cancel the MPO of that institute,” Dipu Moni said in a press conference at Banbeis officer in Dhaka.
She said there was no scope for the less qualified educational institutions to be included in the MPO facilities as the MPO enlistment policy was followed properly.
The government on October 23, brought 2,730 new non-government educational institutions from across the country under the monthly pay order (MPO) scheme.
Under the scheme, the government pays basic salary of the teachers while some monthly allowances are given from the public fund.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina revealed the names of the new institutions. The new list includes 1,651 schools and colleges, 557 madrasas, and 522 technical and vocational institutions.
The decision will take retrospectively effect from July this year.
According to the new list, 439 are junior secondary schools (Class VI-VIII), 995 secondary schools (VI-X), 68 higher secondary schools, 93 colleges (XI-XII) and 56 degree colleges (XIII-XV).
Among madrasas, a total of 357 Dakhil, 128 Alim, 42 Fazil and 29 Kamil-level institutions were brought under the MPO scheme.
The last time, 1,624 institutions were brought under the MPO scheme in 2010 and till now more than 4.5 lakh teachers and employees of 26,340 educational institutions were enjoying the MPO benefits.
