Abducted boy found dead, another rescued

The body of an abducted teenage boy was recovered from Chuadanga district on Friday while Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) rescued a kidnapped college student from the district yesterday.

Police recovered the body of a boy, who was abducted seven days ago, from the Nabaganga River in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga on Friday afternoon.

The victim is Salek Uddin, 16, son of Shamsul Alam of Kabilnagar village in the upazila, reports our Kushtia correspondent.

Locals found the body floating in the river and informed the police around 3:30pm, said Atiar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Alamdanga Police Station

The law enforcers rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said the OC.

On October 3, Salek was abducted for Tk 10 lakh, said police and family sources.

Later, the victim's father filed a general diary with the police station in this connection.

Meanwhile, Rab rescued an abducted college boy from the same district yesterday, reports our Jhenidah correspondent.

The elite force also arrested four men for their alleged involvement in the abduction.

The victim is Imran Hossain, 24, a student of Jhenidah KC College, and son of Osman Gani of Bagutia village in Shailakupa upazila of Jhenidah.

Accused Mostafizur Rahman, Mamunur Rashid, Toufik Ahmed and Amir Hossain hail from Palashpara in Chuadanga town.

Jhenidah RAB commander Mohammad Suruj Mia said the arrestees opened a fake Facebook account named Mim and developed a love affair with Imran.

On October 6, Mim told Imran to meet her in front of Veterinary College in Jhenidah. When Imran reached the spot, the four abducted him for Tk 5 lakh ransom.

After tracking the mobile calls, Rab men raided Shantipara area in the town yesterday afternoon and rescued Imran.

They also arrested the four from the spot, said the commander.
