84 tolas of gold seized, one arrested

Police arrested an alleged smuggler and seized 84 tolas of gold from his possession in Kotchandpur upazila of the district early yesterday.

The arrestee is Jasim Uddin, son of Haji Nur Mohammad of Gobindal village in Singair upazila of Manikganj district.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a Chuadanga-bound passenger bus from Dhaka in front of Kotchandpur Police Station around 5:00am and arrested Jasim along with the gold, said Shahidul Islam Shahin, officer-in-charge of the police station.

A case was filed with the police station in this connection.

On March 4, police arrested two smugglers along with 90 tolas of gold from the bus stand area of the upazila town.
