8 sent to jail over drug peddling, abusing

A mobile court in a drive sentenced eight people including drug peddlers to different terms of imprisonment in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar today.

The mobile court led by Md Rabiul Hasan, an executive magistrate and upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) in Teknaf, detained the eight from different areas during an anti-narcotic drive in different places, reports our staff correspondent.

Among the eight, three were sentenced for drug peddling and five others were sentenced for taking illegal drugs, said Executive Magistrate Md Rabiul Hasan.

Of them, Zaitul Alam was jailed for six months; Md Rassel and Hafez Ahmed jailed for one year; Nur Mohammad jailed for seven months; Md Rafiq, Md Parvez, Mubina Akhter and Md Shahidul Islam jailed for three months.
