70 maunds of jatka seized

The Fisheries Directorate seized 70 maunds of jatka (young hilsha less than 10 inches in length) from the Arial Kha River under Muladi upazila of the district yesterday. Bimal Chandra Das, fisheries officer (jatka) in Barisal, said a mobile court, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Abdullah Masud, raided the area and seized the jatka. The court also jailed three fishermen for one year each and fined another Tk 5,000.
