5-year-old girl raped in Jatrabari

A five-year-old girl was raped in the city's Jatrabari area, the victim's family and police said today.

The victim was sent to one-stop crisis centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital this afternoon for treatment and forensic test, law enforcers said.

According to the child's mother, the girl was playing near their house in Kutubkhali area on Saturday afternoon before she went missing till evening.

The family looked for her but to no avail. She finally returned home around 8:00pm last night but did not say anything about her whereabouts despite repeated questioning, her mother said.

Later in the night, around 11:00pm, she started complaining that she was in pain and finally revealed to her parents about the incident indicating that she was raped, her mother told reporter at DMCH.

Akhter Hossain, sub-inspector of Jatrabari Police Station, said, "The child was too young to provide information on the rapist. We are trying to identity and arrest him."

A case is being filed in this connection.
