49 BNP-Jamaat men sent to jail

Forty-nine BNP-Jamaat men, accused in connection with the killing of Assistant Presiding Officer Zobaidul Haque at Molani Cheprikura Government Primary School polling centre in Roypur union under Thakurgaon Sadar upazila on January 4, 2014, were sent to jail yesterday when they surrendered before a Thakurgaon court.   

Court sources said a group of 100 to 150 BNP-Jamaat men with sharp weapons and sticks swooped on Molani Cheprikura Government Primary School polling centre around 8:45pm on January 4, 2014.

They first threw petrol bombs and then attacked the polling officers and law enforcers.

The attack left Zobaidul Haque, 55, assistant presiding officer and also demonstrator at Salondar College, dead and two police constables critically injured.
