3 killed in Mymensingh road accident

Three passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed and two others critically injured in a road accident on Mymensingh-Netrakona road in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh today.

The identities of the victims could not be known immediately.

Md Borhan Uddin, officer-in-charge of Gouripur Police Station, said quoting locals that the accident took place around 9:00pm when the Netrakona-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided with a sand-laden truck coming from the opposite direction at Beltoli area on the road.

On information, police recovered the bodies of the deceased and took those to the local Shyamganj Highway Police Outpost, said the OC.

The injured persons were admitted at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), OC Borhan Uddin also said.

Police seized the CNG-run auto-rickshaw but the truck driver managed to flee the scene with the vehicle.

Following the accident, traffic movement came to a halt on the road for half an hour until police brought the situation under control, the OC added.
