29 scrap warehouses gutted in Tongi fire

Fire broke out in apparel scrap storage facilities in Gazipur’s Tongi last night, gutting at least 29 tin-shed warehouses in a devastating blaze.

The fire started at around 9:00pm last night at Duttapara Kolabagan Jhut Polli, taking nearly nine hours to tame, our Gazipur correspondent reports.

Md Atiqur Rahman, senior officer at Tongi Fire Service and Civil Defence, said seven units of fire fighters controlled the fire by 6:00am this morning.

The reason behind the fire and losses incurred could not be ascertained immediately.
