At least two people were shot dead and two others injured in an attack at a cattle market in Sandwip upazila of Chittagong this afternoon. 

The deceased were identified as Jahangir, 45, an employee of the cattle market's leaseholder, and Humayun Kabir, 24, a pedestrian, our Chittagong correspondent reports quoting locals.      

A group of criminals launched the attack around 5:30pm, leaving two people dead on the spot, said AHM Moshiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sandwip Police Station.

He added that the motive behind the attack could not be known immediately.

However, the locals said a faction of Jubo League, youth front of the ruling Awami League, allegedly launched the attack as a sequel to a feud over getting lease of the market.
