2 killed in Bhola gas cylinder blast

Two people were killed and 10 others injured as a gas cylinder, used for inflating balloons, exploded in Borhanuddin upazila of Bhola last night.

The deceased were identified as Md Hasnain (18), of Boro Manika area of Borhanuddin upazila, and Md Nirob (23), the balloon vendor, of Bhola Sadar upazila, said Mazharul Amin, officer-in-charge of Borhanuddin Police Station.

A cylinder exploded when the vendor was inflating balloons in Batamara area near an event around 10:00pm yesterday, our Barishal correspondent reports quoting the police and witnesses.

Hasnain and Nirob died on the spot while 10 others suffered injuries, said OC Mazharul Amin.

The injured were taken to Borhanuddin Upazila Health complex, the police official added.

Borhanuddin Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Saiful Islam said the district administration have already provided Tk 10, 000 for the families of each deceased and took steps for the treatment of the injured.
