15 held on border

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 15 people, including three women and two children, while they were entering Bangladesh from India through Putkhali border in Jessore district yesterday. Subedar Safiuddin of Putkhali BGB camp said the border guards chased a gang of human traffickers while they were entering the border area from India in the morning. Sensing the presence of the BGB men, the traffickers fled the scene. Later, the law enforcers arrested 15 people from the spot. They had been living in India illegally for long, said the BGB official. The arrestees hail from Gopalganj and Jessore districts.
