128 people return from US on special flight

At least 128 Bangladeshis and Bangladeshi-born US citizens returned from the country on a special Qatar Airways flight today amid suspension of regular passenger flights due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The special flight of Qatar Airways landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 4:45pm," Shaikat Chowdhury, a doctor at the health desk of HSIA, told The Daily Star.

Of the returnees, one showed symptoms of Covid-19 and has been placed in institutional quarantine at the Brac Learning Centre in Dhaka, said Dr Shaikat.

The rest of the passengers were advised to stay in 14-day home quarantine.  

Bangladesh suspended flights on international routes except China since March 16 to contain the spread of coronavirus.
