Visitors barred from Shat Gambuj Mosque and Sundarbans till April 15

Shaṭ Gambuj Mosque and the eastern part of the Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world, in Bagerhat district will be closed to visitors till April 15 to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The directive will be in force from tomorrow (April 3) to April 15 at the world heritage sites, Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner ANM Faizul Haque confirmed to our local correspondent.

Meanwhile, mobile courts will be conducted to ensure distribution of masks and abidance of health safety rules in different places of Bagerhat, the DC said.

Mohammad Belayet Hossain, divisional forest officer of Sundarbans East Forest Department, said visitors have been barred from entering different spots including Karamjal Wildlife Breeding Centre, Hiran Point, Harbaria, Katka and Kachikhali in the forest as per the direction of authorities concerned.
