Upazila vice-chairman in Tangail suspended for obstructing relief distribution and assault
The local government ministry has suspended vice-chairman of Tangail district's Sadar upazila for his alleged involvement in obstructing relief distribution and assaulting a project implementation officer.
The local government division took the punitive action against Nazmul Huda, vice-chairman of the Sadar upazila and issued a notification in this regard yesterday.
The action taken against Huda brings the number of public representatives suspended since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak to 72 -- 23 UP chairmen, 45 members, one district council member, two municipality councillors and two upazila vice-chairmen.
According to the notification, Huda assaulted a project implementation officer of Tangail Sadar upazila for not distributing relief materials as per his instructions.
Nazmul also made a death threat to the project office, the notification stated.
