Medicine specialist dies from Covid-19 in Chattogram
A doctor infected with coronavirus died at Chattogram Medical College Hospital this afternoon. He had earlier been diagnosed with leukemia.
Dr Ahsanur Karim was an associate professor of the Marine City Medical College and Hospital, a private hospital in the port city, our staff correspondent reports.
He breathed his last around 2:00pm while undergoing treatment at the CMCH, said Brig Gen SM Humayun Kabir, director of the hospital.
Dr Karim, a medicine specialist, recently contracted the novel coronavirus, the director said, adding that he was the first doctor to have died from the coronavirus infection in Chattogram.
"He was admitted to CMCH four days ago and was receiving treatment at a cabin. We transferred him to ICU [intensive care unit] this morning, but he died," he said.
