Govt to continue administering 1st dose of Covid-19 vaccine: DGHS

Those who have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine will start receiving SMS for the second dose from today.

The government will start administering the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine from Thursday (April 8).

Simultaneously, the government will continue administering first dose of the vaccine and those who have registered will also receive confirmation SMS, said a circular from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The decision was taken at a meeting of the "Covid-19 Vaccine Preparedness and Deployment Core Committee" of DGHS, held yesterday.

As per the decision, the countrywide vaccination campaign will be continued during "lockdown" and the month of Ramadan.

From tomorrow, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd will start transporting Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to different district-level government storages as per the distribution list.

As of yesterday, the government has inoculated 54,98,172 people, while 69,15,222 people have registered with Surokkha app for vaccination.
