Extension of ‘lockdown’ will depend on Covid-19 infection rate: Health DG

Whether the ongoing government-imposed restrictions would be prolonged or not will depend on the Covid-19 infection rate in the country, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today.

Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam said this while replying to a query of a journalist during his visit to Manikganj 250-bed District Hospital.

The "lockdown" has been imposed to save people's lives, he said, adding that legal actions will be taken against those who will not obey government's rules.

"Health ministry will run campaign around the country with the help of information ministry to raise awareness," he also said.
