Covid-19: highest number of daily infections recorded again

63 dead, 7,626 infected in 24-hours

Sixty-three people have died from Covid-19 over 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). 

With this the total number of casualties reaches 9,447 and death rate stands at 1.43 percent.

At least 7,626 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 6,59,278, added the release.

This is the highest ever number of cases recorded in 24 hours in the country. The number exceeded 7,000 mark for the fourth consecutive day today.

The current positivity rate is 22.02 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.50 percent.

A total of 34,630 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 3,256 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 5,61,639 and the recovery rate at 85.19 percent.

Among the 63 deceased, 39 were men and 24 women while one was between 11-20 years old, three within 21-30, two between 31-40, five between 41-50, 12 within 51-60 and 4 were above 60 years old, added the release.
