Covid-19: 50 die, 2,856 infected, 2,006 recover in 24 hours
Fifty people have died from coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said during a briefing today.
The death toll now stands at 2,801 and the death rate at 1.30 percent.
Two thousand eight hundred and fifty-six people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
With them, the total number of cases in the country is 2,16,110 and the current infection rate is 23.04 percent.
The total infection rate stands at 20.03 percent, according to DGHS.
Bangladesh is currently 16th in the list of worst affected countries in the world in terms of the number of cases.
The position is one step ahead of Germany and one step behind Colombia, according to worldometer.info.
A total of 12,398 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima said.
Meanwhile, 2,006 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.
The total number of recoveries stands at 1,19,208 and the recovery rate at 55.16 percent.
Six hundred and ninety-seven people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours.
Among the deceased, 41 were male and nine were female while three were between 31-40 years old, seven within 41-50, 12 between 51-60, 16 between 61-70, eight within 71-80 and four were 81-90 years old, Dr Nasima also said.
Of them, 20 were from Dhaka, five from Chattagram, seven from Khulna, six from Rajshahi, one from Sylhet, seven from Rangpur and four were from Barishal division.
