BRB hospital’s ICU chief doctor dies of Covid-19
The chief physician of the intensive care unit (ICU) of BRB Hospital Ltd Dr Sazzad Hossain died in Dhaka tonight after being infected with coronavirus.
Dr Mily Dey, director of Bangladesh Doctors Foundation Trust, said Dr Sazzad died while undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 9:00 pm.
Ward-master of the coronavirus unit of DMCH Mohammad Reaz said Sazzad's body would be handed over to non-government organisation Markajul Islami for burial.
DMCH sources said he was admitted to the hospital on May 29 after testing Covid-19 positive.
With this, 32 doctors, including four senior doctors involved with ICU management, have died of Covid-19 in the country so far, data from Bangladesh Doctors Foundation Trust shows.
