BNP leader Ahsanul Hassan dies with Covid-19

BNP's Dhaka North unit general secretary Ahsanul Hassan passed away last night after he was diagnosed with Covid-19.

The 55-year-old breathed his last at 9:30pm while undergoing treatment at a hospital, said Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, senior joint secretary general of BNP, adding that Ahsanul and his wife's test report came positive from IEDCR.

Ahsanul Hassan and his wife Rina Khan tested positive for Covid-19 four days ago. They have been undergoing treatment staying in home isolation, Sayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP chairperson's media wing, said.

The BNP leader's condition deteriorated today and he was admitted to Shahabuddin Medical College Hospital in the capital's Gulshan around 2:10pm. He passed away in the evening, Sayrul Kabir said.

Ahsanul left behind his wife and two sons to mourn his demise.   

The party has expressed deep condolences for his death.
