5 Covid-19 deaths, 50 new cases in 24 hours in Bogura

Five patients have died with Covid-19 infection and 50 tested positive for the virus in 24 hours in Bogura.

The deceased are: Sumon Mia, 37; Sahanur Islam, 70; Delowar Hossain, 60; Babli Khatun, 45; and Shajahan Ali, 70, reports our local correspondent quoting Mostafizur Rahman Tuhin, deputy civil surgeon of Bogura.

They died while being treated in the Covid-19 unit at Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, the doctor said. 

On the other hand, 50 people have tested positive for the viral infection out of 299 samples tested over 24 hours. Forty-nine of the positive samples were tested in the RT-PCR lab of Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and one was detected at the TMSS Medical College Hospital in Bogura, he said.

Currently there are a total of 250 Covid-19 patients in hospitals and homes in the district. A total of 260 people have died so far with coronavirus in Bogura.

The number Covid-19 patients has been increasing since March 20, said Mostafizur Rahman.

According to the civil surgeon's office, 9,818 patients have so far recovered out of 10,328 infected in Bogura till today.
