48 involved with metro rail project diagnosed with Covid-19 in last 7 days

At least 48 people involved with country's first metro rail project got infected with Covid-19 in last seven days.

With them, in total 518 people got infected with Covid-19 so far, MAN Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd, told reporters today at a virtual press briefing.

However, work of the fast track project is going on in full-swing in two shifts -- day and night, he said.

The overall progress of the project is 61.49 percent. The first phase -- from Uttara to Agargaon -- saw 83.52 percent progress and second phase -- from Agargaon to Motijheel -- witnessed 57.68 percent progress, he said.

About their target for early commissioning of the project in December this year, he said everything now depends on local and global Covid-19 situation.

The Mass Rapid Transit Line 6 is being constructed from Uttara to Motijheel at the cost of Tk 22,000 crore.
