14 retired, 3 currently serving Armed Forces personnel died with Covid-19 so far: ISPR

Fourteen retired and three serving members of the Armed Forces have died with Covid-19 till today, Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate said in a release.

A total of 2,788 people -- including 2,057 retired and currently serving members of the Armed Forces, 188 of their family members, and 543 others working in different organisations of the Armed Forces -- have so far been diagnosed with Covid-19. In total, 17,151 samples were tested in the PCR laboratory of the Army, the ISPR release also said.

Of the infected persons, 1,310 are receiving treatment at different combined military hospitals in the country while 1,461 have recovered from Covid-19 and returned to their respective residences.

"All other admitted persons are in good condition," said the release.

A total of 13 RT-PCR machines are currently operational in all CMHs, including the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), to test samples of Covid-19 for the members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, their families and retired members.

Also, all CMHs have adequate stocks of PPE, masks, gloves and essential medicines and other medical equipment, according to the ISPR release.

Round-the-clock treatment of Covid-19 infected patients is being ensured by the trained doctors of the Army in line with the health guidelines of the health ministry, it added.
