Visually impaired job-seekers go on hunger strike

Visually impaired job seekers went on an indefinite hunger strike today demanding special recruitment at government, autonomous, semi-autonomous offices and Tk 10,000 allowance until they secure jobs after graduation.

They took position in front of gate No. 12 of Jatiya Sangshad around 8:00am, according to a press release issued by an association of visually impaired people.

They are demonstrating to press home their six-point demand, the press release said.

Earlier, they staged demonstration in front of Jatiya Press Club from July 7 till this morning., Later they moved before Jatiya Sangshad.

Meanwhile, one of the demonstrators, Golam Kibria, also a professor of the University of Chittagong, fell ill around 12noon following the strike and was hospitalised, our photo journalist reports from the spot.
