Workers block highway at Sreepur for payment before Eid

Some 5,000 workers of Adib Dyeing Ltd yesterday blocked Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Sreepur in Gazipur for two hours, demanding the salary of August and festival bonus.

The workers took to the street at Mulaid around 4:00pm after the factory authorities declared that they will make the payment tomorrow instead of yesterday.

The workers initially were told to receive the payment on September 7.

An eight-km tailback was created on both sides of the highway.

The workers freed the road after highway police assured them of conducting a negotiation with the authorities today.

Managing director of the factory confirmed that they will pay the workers tomorrow.
