War crime trials to continue: Hasina

Expressing her firm resolve to hold the trial of war criminals and culprits of August 15 massacre, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said the trial is going on and it will continue come what may.

"During the war crimes trial, many stalwarts phoned me pursuing for not executing the war crimes verdicts. I got their phone calls and talked to them. But I never received any phone call from these big shots for any good purpose," she said.

The prime minister said this while responding to a supplementary question from ruling party MP Kamal Ahmed Majumder during the PM's question-answer session in parliament.

Observing that she is doing politics only for the country's people, Sheikh Hasina said, "I won't accept anything that leads to bowing down to them."

The prime minister said she has the sense of just and unjust. "We've tried some of the culprits of 1971 and 1975. The trial is going on and it'll continue come what may."

Hasina said she never cared for her life. "I never cared for my life… I'm doing politics on the soil of the country putting my life at stake," she said.

She also said the country is marching ahead for that reason and it will go forward. "This is the reality," she said.
