Two passport brokers jailed in Barisal

A mobile court yesterday sentenced two passport brokers to three months' imprisonment and fined two others Tk 2,500 in Barisal city.

Mahmuda Sultana, administrative magistrate of the district administration, led the drive.

Nahid Hossain, reporter of local newspaper Desh-Janopad, and Ariful Islam, staff reporter of daily Satya Sangbad, were sentenced to three months' imprisonment, while Sohel and Rubel were fined.       

The court also detained another local journalist, Imran Hossain, but released him after interrogation.
