Three renowned child litterateurs were awarded the Chandrabati Academy Shishu Sahitya Prize for their outstanding contribution to children's literature yesterday.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor handed the winners -- Halima Khatun, Hayat Mamud, and Ali Imam -- a crest and a cheque of Tk 50,000 each at the two-day Chandrabati Shishu Sahitya Conference-2015 organised by Chandrabati Academy at Bangla Academy.

Addressing the conference's inaugural session, the minister urged parents to encourage their children to participate in extracurricular activities for their physical and mental growth, instead of pressuring them for better grades.

Dr Shamsuzzaman Khan, director general of Bangla Academy, said children are now addicted to their phones, which hinder their overall growth.
