Testimony recording deferred for 9th time
A Sylhet court yesterday deferred, for the ninth time, the recording of testimonies of witnesses in the former finance minister SAMS Kibria murder case.
Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Makbul Ahsan deferred the hearing until December 9 as only five accused out of 14 appeared before the court, said Public Prosecutor Kishore Kumar Kar. Yesterday was supposed to be the sixth day of recording testimonies.
Four out of 171 witnesses, including complainant Awami League Habiganj district unit's general secretary Abdul Majid, made depositions so far before the court.
Five people, including Kibria, were killed and 70 others injured in a grenade attack on a public rally of local Awami League at Baidder Bazar in the Sadar upazila on January 27, 2005.
