Sweden, UNFPA sign deal to support midwifery-led healthcare
Sweden and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have signed a grant agreement to support midwifery-led maternal and newborn healthcare in Bangladesh, says a press release.
The Head of Swedish Development Cooperation Karin McDonald and UNFPA Representative Argentina Matavel Piccin signed the deal. In Bangladesh, about 60 percent of women are still giving birth at home without a skilled attendant, putting both mother and baby at risk.
