Submit charges against two, if any, on Nov 16

International Crimes Tribunal-1 yesterday directed the prosecution to submit on November 16 formal charges, if there are any, against two persons hailing from Shariatpur sadar upazila over their alleged involvement in crimes committed there during the Liberation War in 1971.

The three-member tribunal led by Justice Anwarul Haque also fixed that day for hearing a bail petition of one of the accused, Sulaiman Mollah, 84, which was filed by his counsel, Gazi MH Tamim, yesterday.

Though the probe report's submission was scheduled for yesterday, the prosecution filed a petition seeking three weeks' time to prepare and submit the formal charges, with one prosecutor, Hrishikesh Saha, informing that the report and other documents had been received just on Thursday.

The tribunal's investigation agency said to have completed investigations that day and to have found the involvement's evidence.

Police on June 14 arrested Sulaiman, the alleged organiser of anti-liberation organisations Peace Committee and Razakar Bahini and hailing from Kashipur Muslimpara.

Edris Ali Sarder alias Gazi Edris, 67, an alleged member of the latter and from Mahmudpur (Pachim Kashabhog), is on the run.
