Smuggled gold, mobiles, cigarettes seized at Ctg airport

Customs intelligence officials seized around 0.5kg of gold, 42 mobile phone sets and 20 cartons of foreign cigarettes worth Tk 26 lakh from two persons at Shah Amanat International Airport yesterday.

Yasin Arfat, 32, of Lohagara and Joynal, 40, of Hathazari upazila in Chittagong, arrived at the airport by a Flydubai flight at 9:00am, said Customs Intelligence officials.

On suspicion, customs intelligence officials interrogated the duo and recovered the items, they added.
