Rab claimed to have arrested six drug peddlers along with two kgs of cocaine during separate drives in Dhaka's Jatrabari and Gulistan areas yesterday.
The arrestees are: Sultan Hasan (50), Hannan (35), Uzzal (28), Uday Das (52), Palash Dey (58), and Firoz Alam Khan (50).
A team of Rab first arrested three of them from Jatrabari's Konapara area around 4:00pm yesterday and recovered one kg cocaine from their possession, Major Shahrier Ziaur Rahman, second-in-command of Rab-10, told The Daily Star.
Later, based on their information, Rab members conducted another drive at a hotel in Gulistan and arrested three others with rest of the drugs, he added.
The Rab official said the seized items were found to be cocaine in initial test and the street value of it is around Tk 60 crore.
During primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they are members of an international drug trafficking gang and have long been involved in the illicit business, Major Shahrier said.
Rab officials said the arrestees collected the cocaine from a neighbouring country and were waiting for an opportune time to ship those in Singapore.
