The Supreme Court yesterday upheld High Court orders that granted bail to former Destiny 2000 president Lt Gen (retd) Harun-Ar-Rashid in two money laundering cases.

The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the cases on July 31, 2012 against 22 top officials of the group, including Harun, on charge of laundering Tk 3,285.26 crore.

The SC yesterday dismissed four separate petitions filed by the ACC and the government challenging the HC orders.

After Harun, a former army chief, filed two bail petitions, the HC, on October 18, 2012 granted him bail on some conditions, including that he would be no longer involved with the group.

The HC considered Harun's ill health and that he is a freedom fighter.

Later, the ACC and government each filed two separate petitions with the SC against the HC's bail orders.
