RU journalists give 24-hour ultimatum to withdraw complaint against fellow

Journalists working at Rajshahi University (RU) today issued a 24-hour ultimatum to withdraw a complaint filed against their fellow, Mortuza Noor, RU correspondent of Bangladesh Pratidin.

The journalists will go for tougher movement if the complainant, Runa Laila, a lecturer of Rajshahi university school, does not withdraw the complaint by the deadline.

They said this during a human chain formed in front of university Senate building this afternoon, reports our RU correspondent from the spot.

Speaking during the human chain, Shahin Alam, general secretary of RU Journalists Association, said Mortuza Noor published a news in Bangladesh Pratidin following specific allegations.

On Friday, Runa Laila lodged the complaint with Matihar Police Station against Mortuza Noor for publishing what she said was false news. In the complaint, Runa Laila said, that the report was published to tarnish the image of her family and to create violence on campus.
