RMG workers in Ashulia strike daylong for meal allowance hike

The workers of Green Life Composite Ltd at Tongabari in Ashulia, on the outskirts of the capital yesterday went on a daylong strike demanding allowance hike for meal.

Accusing the management of discrimination, they said the workers of Green Life Clothing Ltd, under the common parent organisation Green Life group get Tk 1,700 as allowance while they only get Tk 850.

The workers of Green Life Composite informed the management several times for balancing the allowance but the management said workers are demanding the money illegally.

Md. Moshiur Rahman, admin officer of the factory said they sat with the workers several times but could not reach any understanding.

Kawser Sikder, deputy-director of Ashulia industrial police said additional police have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.
