Nur Hossain produced before court in extortion case

Nur Hossain, prime accused of Narayanganj seven-murder case, was sent to jail after being produced before a court yesterday in an extortion case.

The court sent him to Kasimpur jail after hearing the case filed by Akram Hossain, owner of a packaging company at Adamjee EPZ, allegedly for demanding extortion of Tk 5 lakh from him on May 25, 2013.

The investigation officer later submitted a charge-sheet against Nur and seven others for extortion.

On April 27, Naranyanganj City Corporation Councillor Nazrul Islam, his three aides and driver and senior lawyer Chandan Sarkar and his driver were abducted from a Narayanganj road. Later, their bodies were found floating in the Shitalakkhya. Nur was shown arrested in 13 cases.  On November 12, he was brought back from India.
