Successful Implementation of Hi-tech Parks

MoU signed with Japanese firm

Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) and Re-Tem Corporation, Japan, yesterday signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for planning, developing and successfully implementing hi-tech parks in Bangladesh.

Managing Director of BHTPA Hosne Ara Begum, and President and CEO of Re-Tem Corporation Akira Nakajima signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides at a hotel in the capital where officials and experts highlighted different aspects for effective and successful implementation of high-tech parks.

State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Parliamentary Vice Minister of Economy Trade and Industry of Japan Yoshihiro Seki, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japanese Embassy of Bangladesh Masato Watanabe spoke among others.

Palak said in line with the plan to build Digital Bangladesh as chartered out in the 'Vision-2021', the government put thrust on the use of ICT for improving productivity, governance, service delivery and on the development of IT industry.

Palak said the country received many prestigious awards -- South South Award, South South Cooperation Visionary Award 2014, World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) 2014 Prize, Global ICT Excellence Award 2014 -- for its outstanding contribution to ICT during the last six years.

He said the prestigious awards conferred by internationally reputed organisations recognising Bangladesh's contribution to ICT have enhanced the image of the country in the international arena and sent a positive message to the investors to invest in the country.
