With the charge sheet yet to be submitted two years past Tanwir Mohammed Taqi's murder and over one year past completion of Rapid Action Battalion's investigations, his mother yesterday expressed apprehension over whether the killers would ever be brought to justice.

"The killers have been identified. They have confessed to their crime...We doubt whether the real culprits would be charged," said Rawnak Rehana citing newspaper reports.

"Powerful quarters" were responsible for the delay, she said, urging all to continue protests for justice. Children have the right to grow up without fear and the state must ensure their safety, she added.

The 17-year-old high school graduate and son of cultural activist Rafiur Rabbi of Narayanganj was abducted and killed on March 6, 2013, according to Rab. The body was found on the banks of the Shitalakkhya two days later.

Raownak was talking to The Daily Star after attending Nari Sanghati Andolon's first convention in the capital's BMA Bhaban.

Prof Nasim Akhter Hossain of Jahangirnagar University (JU) said, "Be it their home or outside, all women are workers. And no other workers are as oppressed, discriminated and frequently attacked as women," she said. That is why, she added, if a revolution takes place against oppression, it would be led by women.

Stressing the importance of women's right to property, Prof Anu Muhammad of JU said if property inheritance depended on contribution to the family, women would get more.
