Menstrual hygiene day observed

Global Menstrual Hygiene Day 2015 was observed first time in the country on Thursday with a call to create awareness about menstrual hygiene management.

Water and Sanitation for Urban Poor (WSUP) Bangladesh and NGO Forum for Public Health organised a rally and a procession in the capital's Mirpur slum areas.

Speakers said about 0.8 million women in Dhaka city slums are facing poor menstrual hygiene management. The adolescent girls are the worst victims of it, they added. Principal of Pallabi Degree Collage Hosneara Begum and Project Manager of WSUP-NGO Forum M Nurun Nabi, among others, spoke at the rally.
